When you’ve highlighted your values in this way - your purpose becomes a lot clearer. But, perhaps, your core values weren’t that easy to pinpoint. If that’s the case for you, here are four things you can do this week to help them discover them.
1. Start simply
Prioritise the things that you love doing. This week, make room for the hobbies or activities that bring you joy. If you usually have to say no to doing these acitivites because of other duties, try for this one week to put them first,“your soul will thank you for it,” says Ani.
2. Investigate what gets you fired up
Notice the things you usually talk about, or things you research online, or topics that always pique your interest. Read more about it, talk more about it – ask what other people’s opinions are and see if you agree. Whether it gets you angry or excited, write these things down when you feel a strong emotion. “This helps you clarify what your values are,” explains Ani.
3. Listen to your friends
Ask friends and family how they’d describe you, and make note of when someone compliments or makes an observation about you. As humble human beings we often let these kind of comments go over our head, but be more mindful of the way that others view you. “Eliciting feedback from supportive friends helps you see yourself how they do as our inner critic is usually harshest to ourselves,” says Ani.
4. Find a part-time purpose
It could be a career, hobby, volunteering. Find something you think could give your life more meaning and try out going ‘all in’ – setting intentions on how to make more room for it and how you can grow with it. “Setting intentions tells the universe what you want and helps get you clarity,” explains Ani.
